MUTHAIGA NAIROBI
Muthaiga Golf Club is a beautiful championship course in the middle of the sprawling Nairobi city. The course is divided by the Kiambu road where the first nine is on the other side of the of the road away from the club house. The first nine is undulated with a large dam as one of the main features. The second nine is next to the club house with several water features on a fairly level ground. The club house has excellent facilities and a large entertainment area upstairs. A new addition is the pavilion next to the 10th tee that has evolved into a popular place for golfers to host social events.
Muthaiga Golf Club started as a golf club in the early 1920's when records show Mr. J.A. Morrison as the president of the Club and Mr. W.T. Shapley as the Golf Captain.

Since 1967 Muthaiga Golf Club has hosted the Kenya Open Golf tournament. The Kenya Open Golf tournament has although been played in Karen Country club when the course was redesigned by Architect Peter Matkovich of Matkovich & Hayes from 2002 to 2004. Prominent names that have played at the The Kenya Open Golf tournament includes:- David Jones, Bobby Locke, Bob Charles, Ian Woosman, Vijay Singh, Sam Torrance, Sandy Lyle, Severino Ballesteros, Nick Faldo, Bill Casper, Henrik Stenson, Thomas Bjørn and many others.
The Muthaiga Golf Club is now a modern championship course with probably the best greens in East Africa.
No. 1 - Par 4 - Stroke index
5. Long par 4 with sharp dogleg to the right, you need a
long drive to reach the landing area. The green is protected by water
on the left.
No. 2 - Par 3 - Stroke index 17.
Depending on the tee box and green used this hole can go from easy to
probably the most difficult hole on the course. Be in the right frame
of mind and hit to the center of the green.
No. 3 - Par 4 - Stroke index 13.
Straight forward hole with little trouble. Large landing area and easy
approach.
No. 4 - Par 4 - Stroke index 15.
A medium par 5 with a strong dogleg right, it is reacheble if you are a
long hitter.
No. 5 - Par 3 - Stroke index 7.
Is a medium long par 3, a good high shot is required to be on the
green. Fairway is tight so precision is
required.
No. 6 - Par 4 - Stroke index 3.
Is a wonderful hole, a long par 4 that gently turns to the left. The
green is a real soup bowl and is quite easy to
hit.
No. 7 - Par 5 - Stroke index 11.
A long par five, you need three precise shots and the green is
protected by water on the left. Personally I feel this hole is
difficult, you have to be focused.
No. 8 - Par 4 - Stroke index 1.
Difficult long par 4 dogleg to the right, planning is key to managing
this hole.
No. 9 - Par 4 - Stroke index 9. A
beautiful hole. A medium dogleg over water to the right, is has a small
tricky green where you need good putting
skills.
